Lime Marmalade with Tequila and Orange Flavoured Liqueur
The Margarita, is easily the best known tequila based cocktail, and legend suggests it was developed during the wild west days of the American Gold rush, but no-one really knows who invented the Margarita.
The first mention in print of a Margarita cocktail is in the 1953 December issue of Esquire magazine where it simply states that 'She's from Mexico, Senores, and she is lovely to look at, exciting and provocative'.
In the iconic Cafe Royal Cocktail Book published in 1937 however, it mentions a drink called a Picador, listing its key ingredients as tequila, cointreau and lime juice...!
One of our very favourite cocktails at home using fresh limes, The Hollywood Cocktail Margarita is just devine folded into vanilla ice cream for an evening's indulgence, or used as the base for Margarita cocktails. However you use it, we are sure you will be back for more!
