Orange Marmalade with Single Malt Whisky and White Vermouth
After the Martini, the Manhattan became the most popular pre-dinner drink in the U.S.A., and one of Andy's! The film Manhattan Cocktail (1928) was a part-talkie film at time when the movies were making the transition from the silent era. It is classed as a 'lost film' except for a one minute montage sequence.
The Manhattan also featured as the libation of choice in the classic film Some Like It Hot and enjoyed by the characters played by Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Marilyn Monroe.
In Europe, the tendency is to use Scotch Whisky (as we have) instead of bourbon or rye whiskeys for The Manhattan, where it is also known as 'The Rob Roy'. All of our batches of Manhattan are made using only Single Malt Whisky and Martini Vermouth.
As with all of our Hollywood Cocktail range, this is just scrummy folded into a good quality vanilla ice cream. The Manhattan used as a marmalade is also perfect as a glaze for barbequed meats and as a glaze for gammon joints for example.
